Efficiency and the EEI

The MAGNA3 is based on tried and tested MAGNA technology and our considerable experience with electronic pumps. The permanent magnet motor, AUTOADAPT control mode and integrated frequency converter are still parts of the MAGNA package, but the MAGNA3 also features a wide range of new technologies.

The end-result is a circulator pump with an average Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) of just 0.18 across the range. That puts it way ahead of European legislation, which stipulates that circulators must have an EEI of no more than 0.27 from 1 January 2013 and of no more than 0.23 from 1 August 2015. The 0.18 rating also beats the industry’s current 0.20 benchmark for Best in Class technology.

About the EEI rating system
As part of the European Union’s Energy Using Products (EuP) directive, the Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) rating system has been introduced to replace the old EU Energy Label, which classed products from A to G.

The EEI indicates the difference between the annual Blaue Engel consumption of the rated product and a typical, similar model defined by the directive standard. The Blaue Engel is a well-known German energy labelling scheme that assesses the energy consumption of standalone circulators based on a pre-defined load profile, in which the pump runs at 25% flow for 44% of the time, at 50% for 35% of the time, at 75% for 15% of the time and at 100% flow for 6% of the time.
